HOW WE’RE ORGANIZED

     Cross Trail Outfitters is organized to provide meaningful involvement opportunities for local youth and volunteers. In each unit, the Outfitter (youth minister) works with the youth - individually and in a group - to be their friend and mentor, and uses this relationship to lead the young men down the path toward Christian Manhood.

     An Outfitter is called and committed to serve the local community for the long run; respectable, responsible, educated, skilled, fun loving, caring, passionate about Jesus, and above reproach .

     The structure is based on Biblical principles and models that have proven successful for other youth ministries. The focus is on keeping the Outfitter able to focus full-time on working with the youth. Support includes a local Ranger Team and Council of Elders, plus the CTO National Office.

     The local Ranger Team is made up of volunteers who are responsible for assisting with the ministry. The head of the local team is the Chief. Other volunteers may work toward the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and Major. These ranks provide an objective measure of the skills, certifications, commitment, experience, background and accountability necessary to be a leader in this kind of activity. Rangers include parents, teachers, business leaders, church leaders, and others.

     The Council of Elders provides prayer, guidance, counsel and accountability for the Outfitter. They also share the stewardship of the Trail of the Guide. Elders are men who are known for Christian maturity; well-respected and above reproach.

     The CTO National Office works to recruit and train Outfitters; provides legal, structural, organizational, promotional and other support to the Outfitter, Rangers and Elders.

     CTO National Office provides the leadership, vision, resources and standards of excellence necessary for the success of the local CTO ministry. It is supported by a National Support Team and National Council of Elders.
